Gilimantren Peak, located on the northern side of Mount Giyanti, Magelang, has become a new favorite destination for nature lovers. From this elevation, climbers are treated to a majestic panorama of Mount Sumbing to the northwest, as well as a stunning sunrise backdrop featuring Central Java's iconic mountains, including Merapi, Merbabu, Andong, and Telomoyo.
Despite offering visually stunning beauty, the area's management prioritizes safety and environmental conservation. Therefore, all climbers are required to comply with 13 rules and regulations to ensure a safe climb and preserve the mountain's pristine ecosystem.
Under these regulations, climbers must prepare physically and pack adequate logistical supplies, including personal medications and first-aid kits. Additionally, climbers are urged to follow briefings by staff at the basecamp to understand the route they will traverse.
Environmental preservation is a crucial point; climbers are strictly prohibited from littering and must bring all trash back down with them. The management also bans any damaging activities, such as picking plants, hunting wildlife, and vandalism of rocks or public facilities along the trail.
Furthermore, the management enforces a zero-tolerance policy against prohibited items, including alcohol, illegal drugs, and firearms or hunting gear. All climbers are also required to maintain ethical behavior while on Mount Giyanti, with a ban on immoral acts to preserve the sacredness of the mountain area.
