The formation of the new board of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (Kormi) for Jember Regency for the 2025-2030 period was officially inaugurated on Monday (27/7/2026). The solemn inauguration, which took place at Pendopo Wahyawiwahagraha, was attended directly by the Regent of Jember, Gus Fawait, and the Chairperson of Kormi East Java, Debie Sisilia Samoa.
In his speech, Gus Fawait emphasized the importance of synergy between Kormi and the local government. He hoped that this recreational sports organization would not only focus on physical achievements but also be able to drive the local economy through various activities organized in a measurable way.
The Regent gave an analogy of the success of the Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) and the marching band festival, which proved to bring a multiplier effect worth billions of rupiah for businesses in Jember. The Regency Government is committed to supporting every sports organization (Inorga) that is able to design major events with high economic impact potential exceeding the budget investment disbursed.
Looking ahead, Jember is preparing to host the East Java Kormi Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in November 2027. This major event is projected to attract more than a thousand participants along with their families, which is believed to boost hotel occupancy rates and micro-business transactions in the Jember region.
Responding to this, the Chairperson of Jember Kormi, Tri Basuki, confirmed his team's readiness. Athlete training has been running since the beginning of the year, followed by a training camp program scheduled to start on August 7, 2026. Jember Kormi targets a minimum of 30 gold medals at the prestigious event to bring honor to the region.
