Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have officially announced the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach. The Australian tactician has signed a two-season contract, marking the start of a new chapter in his coaching career in the Middle East.
This confirmation was announced directly by the club in an official statement on Saturday (5/7) early morning WIB. Postecoglou was brought in to fill the vacancy left by Stefano Pioli. Although Pioli successfully guided Al Nassr to the league title last season, the club's management decided to make a strategic change by appointing a coach with more experience on the international stage.
Before accepting Al Nassr's offer, Postecoglou had been without a club since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2025. There was speculation linking him to the Scotland national team job, but the coach ultimately chose to pursue his professional career in Riyadh.
Postecoglou's spell will certainly be under the spotlight, given that he will manage a squad of world-class stars. In addition to megastar Cristiano Ronaldo, the team nicknamed Faris Najd is bolstered by big names such as Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman, and Joao Felix.
Postecoglou's proven leadership qualities—having won five major titles with Celtic and guided Tottenham Hotspur to a Europa League trophy—will be Al Nassr's primary asset. The 60-year-old's arrival is expected to maintain the club's domestic dominance while enhancing the team's competitiveness in Asian competitions next season.
