Taman Husada Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Bontang recorded a very high health insurance participation rate. Currently, around 90 percent of the total patients undergoing treatment at the local government-owned healthcare facility are protected by the BPJS Kesehatan program.
The Director of RSUD Taman Husada Bontang, Suhardi, revealed that this high health insurance coverage rate is inseparable from the active role of the Bontang City Government. Through local budget allocation policies, the local government covers health premiums for people who fall into the Contribution Assistance Recipients (PBI) category.
Based on the collected data, the number of beneficiaries of the PBI subsidy covered by the local government has now reached approximately 60,000 people. This figure also includes the transfer of PBI membership from the central government budget to the regional budget to ensure equal distribution of services.
To support services for these health insurance participants, the management of RSUD Taman Husada ensures the readiness of inpatient facilities. The distribution of room assignments and the availability of beds are arranged proportionally according to each patient's care class to maintain comfort during recovery.
Furthermore, Suhardi emphasized the hospital's humanitarian commitment, stating that they will not reject patients in need of medical assistance, even if their BPJS Kesehatan membership status is detected as inactive. The hospital promises to continue providing medical action in accordance with standard patient safety procedures.
To minimize administrative barriers in the field, RSUD Taman Husada continues to strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to find quick solutions for patients experiencing membership issues. This step is taken to ensure all Bontang residents have equal and optimal access to healthcare.
