The Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov Riau) is finalizing various preparations ahead of the peak of the 69th Anniversary commemoration of Riau Province, which falls on August 9, 2026. Through a coordination meeting led by Assistant I of the Regional Secretariat of Riau Province, Zulkifli Syukur, all ranks of the Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) are working together to design a series of events that are not only ceremonial but also directly address the needs of the wider community.
This year's commemoration carries the theme "United in Diversity, Advancing in Development", represented through an official logo chosen from a competition. To maintain sacredness and local identity, the Riau Provincial Government requires all ceremony participants and invited guests to wear complete traditional Malay attire. The dress rehearsal is scheduled for August 6 and 7 to ensure the technical readiness of the flag ceremony, which is planned to be led directly by the Acting (Plt) Governor of Riau.
In addition to the formal ceremony, the anniversary celebration will also be enlivened by various community programs. The Riau Provincial Government has planned low-cost market operations to help meet the basic needs of residents, followed by the Free Health Check (CKG) program and the Riau Literacy Festival. The festivities will culminate in a folk entertainment stage coordinated by the Secretariat of the Riau Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), coinciding with the special plenary session.
