A joint team from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the East Java Provincial Health Office, and the Jombang District Health Office conducted an Environmental Health Inspection (IKL) at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) area. This step was taken to ensure the readiness of sanitation and health infrastructure in the boarding school environment ahead of the official national launch of the Free Health Check Program (CKG), planned for the third week of August.

A thorough inspection was carried out at three strategic locations of the boarding school: Tebuireng Cukir as the center, Tebuireng Kesamben, and Tebuireng Jombok. The team focused their examination on vital facilities such as classrooms, student dormitories, canteens, communal kitchens, and waste disposal management systems to ensure that clean and healthy living standards are met.

In addition to visual monitoring, officers also took samples of clean water, air, food, lighting, and room sanitation levels for laboratory testing. A technical officer from the Jombang District Health Office, Gefi, revealed that chemical test results could be obtained quickly, while microbiological tests and waste disposal area monitoring require further observation and laboratory analysis.

A representative of the Directorate of Environmental Health of the Ministry of Health, Dini Surgayanti, explained that the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School was chosen as the main venue for the national program launch because it is planned to be officially inaugurated by the President. If the evaluation results show any shortcomings, the team will immediately provide recommendations for improvement. In addition to free health checks, this program will also include mass tuberculosis (TB) screening for the boarding school residents.

On the same occasion, the Ministry of Health also provided dissemination on the importance of food safety in the boarding school environment. Ministry representative Ana Hasanah reminded kitchen and canteen operators that they must hold official Food Handler Certificates and ensure all food is free from Escherichia coli bacteria and hazardous chemicals such as borax or formalin, in order to create a healthy learning ecosystem for thousands of students.
