Two teenagers from Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency, namely Arifin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15), were finally found dead. The two were reported missing after hiking Mount Bismo last Tuesday (30/6/2026).

Head of the Wonosobo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sumekto Hendro, revealed that the bodies of the two victims were found by a volunteer team together with the Wanadri Jungle Explorers and Mountain Climbers Association on Sunday (12/7) at around 13:00 WIB. The discovery occurred in a valley area near Curug Tiga, right after the Wanadri team conducted a further sweep despite the official search operation having previously been closed on Saturday (11/7).

The evacuation process was challenging due to the extreme terrain. Sumekto explained that the discovery location was at a depth of around 200 meters with very dense forest vegetation cover. The rescue team took until nightfall to ensure both bodies were successfully retrieved from the location.

Based on conditions in the field, BPBD suspects that both victims had passed away some time before being found. The positions of the bodies when found were reported to be quite far apart from each other. Following the evacuation, the remains of the two teenagers were immediately taken to the hospital for mortuary processing before finally being handed over to their families at the funeral home for burial.

Sumekto expressed deep appreciation to all elements involved in this humanitarian operation. He thanked local residents, volunteers, the Wanadri team, and Basarnas for working hard on the intensive search for over a week in the Mount Bismo area.
