The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan is strengthening its partnership with the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) to cultivate a healthy and active lifestyle in the community. This strategic step was taken as a joint effort to reduce the level of dependency on gadgets, which is increasingly rising in the digital era.
Acting Head of the Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) of East Kalimantan, Rasman Rading, emphasized that addressing gadget dependency cannot be solved by the government alone. The active role of KORMI, various sports organizations, and the family environment is highly needed to educate citizens to enjoy physical movement again.
According to Rasman, parental role modeling at home is the main key to preventing children from constantly spending time on screens. Therefore, a persuasive approach through fun and recreational physical activities needs to be continuously socialized so that people are interested in exercising without feeling burdened.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of National KORMI, Kemalsyah Nasution, stated that his party is committed to promoting various alternative traditional and community sports to combat sedentary lifestyles. Kemalsyah warned that today's challenge is not just gadgets, but also other health problems such as obesity due to lack of movement and overeating. Although KORMI now accommodates digital-based sports, its main mission remains to encourage all age groups to be physically active.
