Joint officers from the Pekanbaru City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) alongside Commission I of the local Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) conducted unannounced inspections at several nightlife venues in the early hours of Thursday (9/7/2026). This firm measure was taken as part of intensive oversight of business operations to ensure public order in the region.
The target locations included Gen Z Club Pekanbaru, Empire 80 Lounge and KTV, and HW Live House. During the operation, the joint team not only checked operational permits but also ensured that all activities within the entertainment venues remained within legal corridors and did not cause public unrest.
Head of Pekanbaru Satpol PP, Desheriyanto, emphasized that the local government does not prohibit entrepreneurs from running entertainment businesses. However, he issued a stern warning to management to ensure their business premises are free from drug abuse and trafficking. Compliance with regulations is a non-negotiable requirement.
Echoing these sentiments, Chairman of Commission I of the Pekanbaru DPRD, Robin Eduar, stated that this monitoring is a tangible expression of the legislative branch's commitment to maintaining city stability. He affirmed that they will continue to monitor business compliance to ensure nightlife venues do not become loopholes for criminal acts, particularly illicit drug trade.
This inspection effort, which also involved military (TNI) and police (Polri) personnel, is expected to serve as a deterrent and a reminder for all entertainment business operators in Pekanbaru. The government reiterated that it will continue to take decisive action against managers proven negligent or in violation of public order regulations and applicable laws.
