Synergy of Undira and Mercu Buana Revitalizes Economic and Environmental Potential of Pondok Kelor Village

Dian Nusantara University (Undira) and Mercu Buana University (UMB) have officially implemented the Assisted Village Empowerment Program (PDB) in Pondok Kelor Village, East Sepatan District, Tangerang Regency. This concrete step was realized through the handover of appropriate technology (TTG) equipment assistance, fully supported by funding from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in 2026.

The equipment was handed over directly to the local Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) and the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) as supporting instruments for the environmental management system and creative economy. The leader of the PDB team from Mercu Buana University, Desiana Vidayanti, revealed that this assistance is the culmination of an intensive collaboration built since April 2026. The main focus is to improve the household waste management system, which had previously not been well-organized.

In addition to environmental issues, this program also aims to restore Pondok Kelor Village's image as a moringa producer. Through continuous mentoring, residents are provided with financial literacy and business management skills to process local commodities such as cassava and moringa into high-value economic products. This initiative is expected to improve the community's standard of living while strengthening the village's identity.

Undira team member Sri Hesti emphasized that the success of this empowerment lies in the active participation of the residents. Technological equipment is merely a tool, while collective awareness remains the key to ensuring that the established system can run independently after the mentoring period ends.

The Head of Pondok Kelor Village, Junaedi, welcomed this interdisciplinary collaboration. The program, designed for a three-year duration, is expected to become a pilot model for sustainable peri-urban village empowerment, with the first year focusing on building system foundations, followed by strengthening operations in the second year, and achieving institutional independence in the third year.
