Highlighting Service Quality, DPR RI Demands Factual Verification of BPJS Kesehatan Data in Palangka Raya

Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) is pushing for the synchronization of health service data reported by BPJS Kesehatan with the actual conditions on the ground, especially in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan. This verification step is considered crucial to ensure that administrative figures regarding doctor ratios, hospital bed availability, and medical facilities truly reflect the services received by the public.

Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Obon Tabroni, conveyed this urgency after conducting an assessment during a Specific Working Visit in Palangka Raya. The Gerindra Party politician highlighted the BPJS Kesehatan report, which claims that the doctor-to-patient ratio in the region is already highly ideal, thus requiring a direct crosscheck with the Palangka Raya City Government.

According to Obon, the validity of the data in the provincial capital is highly important because Palangka Raya serves as a health service barometer for the surrounding areas. If service disparities are still found in the city center, then the challenges faced by supporting regencies and remote areas in Central Kalimantan will undoubtedly be much heavier.

In addition to the doctor ratio, the reported hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR) of around 46 percent is also a target for verification. The DPR is also paying attention to the Palangka Raya City Government's proposal regarding the construction of community health centers (puskesmas) with inpatient facilities in the outermost areas, which are located up to 20 kilometers from the nearest health facility. This proposal will soon be coordinated with the Ministry of Health.

On the other hand, Obon highlighted the issues with National Health Insurance (JKN) membership experienced by about 25,000 local residents. Nevertheless, he highly appreciated the commitment of the Palangka Raya City Government, which continues to guarantee health services for poor residents even though their BPJS Kesehatan active membership status has been deactivated.
