The South Lampung Regency Government has issued a stern warning to the general public following an increase in volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau. Currently, the volcano has been placed at Level III or Alert status, requiring high vigilance from all relevant parties.
South Lampung Regent, Egi, officially asked residents to comply with recommendations from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG). Based on these guidelines, the public is strictly prohibited from conducting any activities within a radius of 3 to 5 kilometers from the active crater.
Egi emphasized that this precautionary step was taken as an effort to protect human lives. He specifically highlighted the activities of fishermen and tour operators, urging them not to cross the red zone established by the relevant authorities to avoid unwanted risks.
To date, the South Lampung Regency Government continues to coordinate intensively with various relevant agencies to monitor the condition of Mount Anak Krakatau on a regular basis. The public is advised to remain calm yet vigilant and to always follow official directives from volcanological authorities and the local government.
