A young man from Pandeglang Regency, Banten, named Muhammad Tatang (26), has proven that calculated courage can lead to success in the investment world. Starting his career from a mobile phone trading business to photography services, Tatang has now successfully become a retail investor capable of optimally capitalizing on the momentum of the capital market decline.

Tatang made a crucial decision when the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) experienced severe pressure, dropping to the level of 5,300 in June 2026. Instead of panicking like typical novice investors, he actually doubled his investment capital. He even took an extreme step by selling about 90 percent of the camera equipment from his "Hallophoto" rental business to add ammunition in the stock market.

This bold move was not without calculation. He retained a small portion of the camera equipment so that his photography business could continue running as his primary cash flow supporter. Tatang's own investment journey began in 2019 when he was still an early-semester student at the Faculty of Economics. Although he initially suffered losses due to a lack of knowledge, he used those failures as evaluation material to delve deeper into technical and fundamental analysis.

Through a long learning process and discipline in managing investment psychology away from follow-the-crowd behavior (FOMO), Tatang's investment portfolio has continued to grow consistently. Tatang also reminded the younger generation not to view the capital market as a shortcut to getting rich quick. According to him, a deep understanding of risk management is far more important than merely speculating on stock price directions.
