PT RANS Entertainment Indonesia Tbk has officially taken a strategic step by divesting its football business unit. This decision was made as part of the company's efforts to maintain the health of its investment portfolio, keeping its focus on business lines that deliver sustainable growth and profit margins.
Managing Director of Emtek Group and RANS shareholder, Sutanto Hartono, explained that the decision was the result of an in-depth evaluation of the football club's business prospects. According to him, managing a club competing in professional competitions such as Liga 1 presents highly complex operational challenges, which are also faced by many other football clubs in the country.
Sutanto added that although this divestment step will directly impact the company's revenue reduction, management remains committed to prioritizing efficiency. The company's current focus is to ensure that all managed assets deliver optimal financial performance in line with investor expectations.
For context, the club previously known as Cilegon United was acquired by Raffi Ahmad alongside Rudy Salim in 2021. After spending two seasons in the top tier Liga 1, the club suffered relegation before winning the Liga Nusantara in the 2025–2026 season and securing promotion back to Liga 2. As of now, RANS has not provided further details regarding the transaction value or the party taking over ownership of the club.
