The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of Purworejo Regency has officially taken firm action by dropping an athlete from the contingent list preparing for the 2026 Central Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). This decision was made as a consequence of a serious disciplinary infraction committed by the athlete during the training camp.

The Chairman of Purworejo Regency KONI, Muhamad Abdullah, explained that this demotion was based on the coaching team's evaluation report and intensive monitoring results. The athlete in question was recorded absent from routine training sessions for three consecutive weeks without a clear explanation.

Abdullah emphasized that his party has zero tolerance for undisciplined behavior. According to him, this step is crucial to protect the training ecosystem so that it does not spread to other athletes who are fighting to bring honor to their region. With the removal of this one name, the size of the squad currently undergoing training is down to 186 athletes.

Furthermore, Purworejo KONI ensured that they will immediately conduct a re-selection process to find a replacement with higher dedication. Abdullah reminded that being part of the regional contingent is a great honor achieved through a long process, so every athlete is obligated to repay the government's support with discipline and tangible achievements.

In closing, he urged all remaining athletes in the team to stay focused and boost their motivation. The Purworejo Regency Government is said to have provided sufficient appreciation and support for the athletes, so full commitment on the field is an absolute prerequisite to bring home medals at the upcoming Porprov event.
