The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) of East Java has officially declared its commitment to adopting a more modern and scientifically-based athlete training system. Chairman of East Java KONI, Muhammad Nabil, stated that the sport intelligence approach is a crucial foundation that is no longer negotiable in efforts to improve the competitiveness of athletes in the competitive arena.
According to Nabil, the era where success relied solely on physical training has ended. Today, every training program must be based on accurate data analysis. This includes precise mapping of athletes' self-potential and identifying opponents' weaknesses on the field. Tactical decisions made must now be based on measurable facts, rather than just assumptions or coach intuition.
Nabil explained that the scope of sport intelligence is very broad, covering training methodologies, database management, and long-term policy formulation. All of these data instruments are expected to create efficiency in athlete preparation so that medal targets can be achieved in a more systematic and planned manner.
While prioritizing the scientific aspect, Nabil still emphasized the importance of maintaining sports integrity and ethics. He stressed that the application of technology and data analysis must remain aligned with the values of sportsmanship. A proud victory, according to him, is the result of an honest training process supported by the excellence of data-based strategies.
As a next step, East Java KONI is urging all sports branch administrators as well as KONI at the regency and city levels to immediately adopt this system. This transformation is believed to be the main key for Indonesia to produce competitive athletes ready to make the nation proud in various regional and international championships.
