The Tamansuruh Agrotourism (AWT) area on the slopes of Mount Ijen, Banyuwangi, recently played host to a mesmerizing cultural event. Through a program titled 'Senja di AWT', traditional arts such as Barong and Jaranan appeared with a fresh, more elegant face, proving that ancestral heritage possesses an appeal capable of adapting to modern tourism trends.
Located in Glagah District at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level, this destination offers a captivating combination of landscapes. Visitors are not only treated to quality artistic performances but are also spoiled with a backdrop featuring the peak of Mount Ijen and the expanse of the Bali Strait visible in the distance. The presence of dramatic lighting at sunset further enhances the magical feel of the performance.
Visitors, including Purnomo Aji and Rosy Angelina, expressed positive appreciation for the concept of this event. They assessed that the neatly curated packaging of traditional art provides a far more comfortable and exclusive viewing experience compared to conventional performances in public spaces usually found in residential neighborhoods.
More than just entertainment, this initiative spearheaded by the Banyuwangi Regency Government serves as an important instrument in driving the local economic wheel. Involving at least 50 MSMEs, the event successfully created an integrated tourism ecosystem combining natural elements, culinary arts, and professional performing arts.
The success of 'Senja di AWT' marks a significant evolution for regional arts. With creative and sustainable stage management, local cultural heritage is now projected to be not only a regional identity but also a main engine driving a tourism industry capable of competing on a broader scale.
