The Tangerang City Government has officially sent off the contingent that will compete in the XII Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) of Banten Province in 2026. A total of 568 personnel, consisting of 411 selected athletes along with coaches and officials, were deployed with the primary target of retaining the overall champion title previously won in the 2024 event.
The send-off ceremony, which took place at Plaza Puspem Tangerang City on Saturday (6/6), was led directly by the Mayor of Tangerang, Sachrudin, accompanied by regional leaders and administrators of KONI and Bapopsi. In his address, the Mayor emphasized the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and the spirit of sporting patriotism for every athlete competing under the region's name.
Head of the Tangerang City Youth and Sports Department (Dispora), Kaonang, revealed that athlete preparations had been carried out intensively through the Regional Student Sports Education and Training Center (PPLPD) program. His department is committed to optimizing the athletes' potential across the 26 sports categories to be contested in Cilegon City from June 8 to 17, 2026.
Similar optimism was expressed by a representative of the Tangerang City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Samsuni. He invited all levels of society to provide support and prayers so that the athletes can perform to their maximum potential in every arena, while bringing the overall champion trophy back to Tangerang City.
