BATANG – President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that accelerating development towards an advanced Indonesia must go hand in hand with environmental preservation. In the Head of State's view, industrial leaps and food security will not be sustainable without the support of a healthy, clean, and sustainable ecosystem.
The President made this statement on the sidelines of the mass inauguration of 62,000 units of Subsidized Housing Ownership Credits (KPR) and Housing People's Business Credit (KUR) at Puri Delta City Side, Batang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (30/7/2026). He stressed the importance of maintaining ecological balance amidst the massive industrial downstreaming and food self-sufficiency currently pursued by the government.
One crucial point highlighted by the President is the ambitious target for domestic waste management. The government is optimistic about eliminating the existence of waste mountains in various regions of the country by the end of 2027 through strategic steps and radical changes in waste management.
According to Prabowo, environmental cleanliness is also a key variable in boosting the performance of the national tourism sector. Tourist destinations clean from plastic contamination will attract foreign and domestic tourists, which in turn will have a positive impact on widespread job creation in the regions.
To realize this vision, the President instructed regional heads to directly monitor the condition of sanitation, waterways, and public spaces in their respective areas. The central government even plans to provide special incentives for cities and regencies that succeed in maintaining their cleanliness as a form of appreciation and motivation boost.
In addition to structuring the waste disposal system, the national greening program will also be intensified by planting hundreds of millions of trees. The President has coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Forestry to establish nursery centers to supply high-quality tree seedlings to all corners of the country for the sake of future generations.
