The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) continues to drive the transformation of the domestic agricultural sector through the downstreaming of ready-to-use modern technology. This step is realized to ensure that research results do not merely become academic documents, but can be directly applied by farmers and industry players to increase land productivity.

Through the Working Meeting and Workshop of the Research Center for Equipment Manufacturing Technology (PRTMP), BRIN emphasized the importance of transitioning to a precision agriculture system. This method utilizes cutting-edge devices such as smart sensors, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and automation systems to generate accurate agricultural data, thereby minimizing production costs while optimizing crop yields.

The Head of the Energy and Manufacturing Research Organization at BRIN, Cuk Supriyadi Ali Nandar, explained that the research paradigm must now be based on market needs. BRIN applies a co-development scheme from the early stages of research planning so that the technologies created are truly aligned with the real constraints faced by farmers in the field.

As a concrete manifestation of this collaboration, PRTMP signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with nine strategic partners, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), cooperatives, and corporations. In addition, BRIN also officially launched a commercial license for a mechanical coconut climbing machine, an innovation by researcher Astu Unadi designed to improve work safety and coconut harvesting efficiency.

On the other hand, this long-term commitment is aligned with the BRIN 5.0 Transformation roadmap for the 2026–2030 period, which focuses on strengthening the research ecosystem that directly impacts the community. This synergy is also supported by the National Standardization Agency (BSN) for the standardization of precision instruments, in order to achieve the national target of sustainable food self-sufficiency.
