Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Golkar Party, Mukhamad Misbakhun, issued an important call to all political party elites in Indonesia. He emphasized the need to show maturity and clarity of stance amidst continuously developing national dynamics to ensure political stability remains well-maintained.
Misbakhun highlighted the central role of the political elite in determining the country's conducive climate. He explicitly requested all parties to refrain from spreading provocative narratives that could potentially trigger socio-political escalation in society. According to him, leadership by example from party leaders is crucial in providing a calming direction for the nation.
Furthermore, Misbakhun criticized the phenomenon of ambiguous political stances or "playing both sides" ("dua kaki") politics often engaged in by certain factions. He assessed that the practice of benefiting from government programs when they are popular but distancing oneself and launching sharp criticisms when problems arise is an inelegant attitude that damages public trust.
In Indonesia's democratic system, although it does not recognize a formal opposition, every political party is required to have a clear position. Whether inside or outside the government, consistency of stance is viewed as integrity that must be upheld for the public interest above fleeting political interests.
Closing his statement, Misbakhun encouraged the implementation of national-oriented politics that prioritizes collaboration. Amid geopolitical challenges and global economic pressures, he invited all political elements to abandon the blame-shifting culture and shift toward real synergy to find the best solutions for the nation's problems.
