The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Jombang Regency, Agus Purnomo, has demonstrated a tangible commitment to supporting a sustainable lifestyle. Amidst a demanding bureaucratic schedule, he consistently chooses cycling as his primary mode of transportation to commute to and from his office on Jalan Wahid Hasyim.

The initiative taken by the top civil servant in the Jombang Regency Government is far more than just a routine fitness activity. Agus Purnomo uses it as a moral instrument to advocate for energy efficiency while simultaneously curbing motor vehicle exhaust emissions in urban areas.

While wearing his official uniform, Agus appears enthusiastic as he interacts with members of the public along his route. Upon arriving at the office, he warmly greets staff members—a simple gesture aimed at strengthening communication between leadership and subordinates in a more humanistic and informal manner.

“Cycling is a simple way to maintain fitness amidst a busy work agenda, as well as our concrete step toward reducing air pollution. My hope is that fellow civil servants will be inspired to start switching to environmentally friendly transportation,” Agus stated.

This action has received positive responses from various parties and is expected to encourage Regional Government Agencies (OPD) to adopt similar habits. The Jombang Regency Government is optimistic that this initiative will contribute significantly to creating a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable urban environment for all residents of Jombang.
