Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, emphasized that Jakarta's position on the global city map is becoming increasingly competitive. According to the latest data from an international survey institution based in Brussels, Jakarta managed to rank 53rd out of 100 cities worldwide.
In his statement at the Jakarta Creative Festival 2026 event on Saturday (July 4, 2026), Pramono expressed his pride that this achievement places Jakarta in a higher position compared to the capital of the United States, Washington, D.C., as well as the Middle Eastern economic hub, Abu Dhabi.
Pramono also highlighted positive progress during his leadership over the past ten months. Jakarta's global city index recorded an increase of three ranks, moving from 74th position when he was first inaugurated to 71st position currently.
Seeing this positive trend, Jakarta's top official invited all stakeholders to maintain the momentum so that Jakarta continues to thrive as a highly competitive national economic hub. He stressed the need for continuous innovation so that Jakarta possesses unique qualities and distinct standards compared to other major cities in Indonesia.
