The volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has once again shown a significant increase. On Saturday (11/7/2026) morning at 08:12 WITA, the volcano was reported to have spewed a column of volcanic ash reaching a height of 1,000 meters above the peak.
Based on monitoring by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the spewing ash column appeared gray with a thick intensity. The ash material was observed moving with the wind toward the north and northeast. This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 44.4 mm and a duration of activity of 1 minute and 34 seconds.
As of this report, the status of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki remains at Level III (Alert). As a mitigation measure, authorities have emphasized the prohibition for local residents, tourists, and visitors from engaging in any activities within a 5-kilometer radius from the eruption center.
People living around the slopes of the mountain are urged to remain calm and not be provoked by rumors or information whose veracity cannot be verified. Local authorities emphasized the importance of following official directives from the regional government to ensure public safety amidst this disaster situation.
