Volcanic activity at Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has once again shown a significant increase. The mountain, which stands at an altitude of 3,084 meters above sea level, reportedly erupted again on Monday (6/7/2026) at 18:00 WITA.
According to official reports, this eruption spewed an ash column 1,500 meters above the peak. The gray-colored, thick ash plume was reported to be moving towards the north and northeast, triggered by seismograph records showing a maximum amplitude of 29.6 millimeters and an eruption duration of 125 seconds.
The impact of the eruption is beginning to be felt directly by the community in Wulanggitang District. Several settlements, including the villages of Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, Nawakote, and Boru Kedang, are once again exposed to volcanic ash rain, the intensity of which residents say has increased over the past two weeks.
Amid these conditions, geological authorities continue to issue strict warnings for residents to refrain from any activities within a 5-kilometer radius of the eruption center. This situation adds to the burden on residents who had previously hoped the volcano would stabilize after its status was downgraded.
Facing the reality that the volcano's status has returned to Level III (Alert), local residents admit they can only increase their vigilance. The eruption phenomenon, which occurs almost daily, has forced the community to adapt to environmental conditions continuously affected by volcanic activity.
