President Prabowo Subianto has instructed young officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to strengthen their readiness in facing increasingly complex global threats. During the 2026 TNI and Polri Officer Inauguration (Prasetya Perwira/Praspa) ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 22, 2026), the President emphasized the importance of mastering cutting-edge technology to safeguard national sovereignty.

According to the Head of State, the spectrum of defense threats has now shifted from conventional patterns toward non-military domains, such as information and cyber warfare. Additionally, cultural infiltration, smuggling, drug trafficking, and transnational crime have become real challenges that must be anticipated by law enforcement and defense personnel.

To anticipate these modern threats, the President urged young officers to equip themselves with expertise in artificial intelligence, cyber systems, unmanned technology, and foreign language proficiency. These technical capabilities are deemed crucial to ensure Indonesia does not fall behind in the fast-moving global security landscape.

On the other hand, President Prabowo highlighted the importance of building national self-reliance in various strategic sectors. He asserted that the nation's sovereignty can only be fully preserved if Indonesia is self-sufficient in food, energy, the defense industry, technology, and science.

While mastering advanced technology is imperative, the President reminded them that the core foundation of a soldier still lies in character, discipline, and leadership. Young officers are expected to become adaptive future leaders who remain firmly committed to the values of service to the nation and state.
