The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) appreciated the steps taken by the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) in completing the financial statements of all State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) for the 2025 Fiscal Year. Executive Director of INDEF, Esther Sri Astuti, emphasized that this momentum must serve as a stepping stone for Danantara to continue fundamental transformation and sectoral consolidation within the state-owned enterprises.
According to Esther, the improvement in corporate profits is a positive indicator of the efficiency measures taken, such as restructuring management and cutting operational costs. However, she warned that short-term increases in profitability are not the only measure of success. SOEs are required to integrate long-term productivity and competitiveness as the core of this transformation.
Furthermore, the success of this strategy heavily depends on a conducive investment ecosystem in Indonesia. Esther asserted that legal certainty and transparent corporate governance are absolute prerequisites for attracting investors and making them comfortable investing their capital.
"Regulatory certainty is a crucial factor. If governance is strengthened, the transformation of SOEs will not only impact the internal performance of the companies but also make a significant contribution to a stronger and more sustainable national economic growth," she concluded.
