The Kupang City Government successfully held the Independence Night Run Season II, centered on Frans Seda Street. This activity is a tangible manifestation of the local government's commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle while fostering an inclusive sports culture for all segments of society in the capital of East Nusa Tenggara.
The Regional Secretary of Kupang City, Jeffry Pelt, who personally flagged off the participants at the Nostalgia Park area, appreciated the public's enthusiasm. A total of 535 participants took part in the route crossing strategic areas up to the Tirosa Roundabout. This figure is a significant leap compared to the inaugural event, which only had about 200 participants.
According to Jeffry, the success of this event reflects the increasing awareness of residents about the importance of maintaining physical fitness. He emphasized that solid collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the community is a fundamental factor determining the success of organizing such large-scale sports events in Kupang City.
The Head of the Kupang City Youth and Sports Office, Alan Yoga Girsang, added that his office is committed to continuing to provide positive spaces through various sports events. He hopes that similar activities can be carried out sustainably to accommodate public interest while strengthening social bonds among residents.
Echoing the executive branch, the Chairman of the Kupang City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Richard Odja, gave his full support to the agenda. He promised to oversee budget requirements so that this sports event, which brings health benefits to the community, can be routinely scheduled in the future, thus becoming an icon of a healthy lifestyle in Kupang City.
