PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN) asserts that accelerating the energy transition in Indonesia cannot rely solely on technological advancements. The educational institution emphasizes the importance of internalizing cultural values as an ethical compass for engineering students in innovating and preserving nature.
ITPLN Rector, Prof. Iwa Garniwa, during the 18th anniversary celebration of the ITPLN Sundanese Community on Friday (10/7/2026), highlighted that mastery of engineering disciplines must be paired with a strong understanding of identity. He appreciated the students' efforts to preserve regional culture amidst the challenges of modernization that often erode local identity.
Echoing this sentiment, the Supervising Lecturer of the ITPLN Sundanese Community, Dhami Johar Damiri, mentioned that Sundanese cultural philosophy is closely linked to the concept of sustainable development. According to him, the harmony between humans and nature taught in local traditions serves as an essential foundation for future engineers to develop environmentally friendly new and renewable energy.
Meanwhile, the Advisor (Pangaping) of the ITPLN Sundanese Community, Hendra Jatnika, hoped that the community's activities would not merely be ceremonial events. Hendra encouraged this community to become a collaborative platform across cohorts and alumni to strengthen networks and students' adaptability to changing times, while still holding fast to the nation's cultural heritage.
Through this integrative approach, ITPLN aims to produce graduates who are not only superior in technical competence, but also possess social sensitivity and a high commitment to preserving the cultural wealth of the Archipelago in the era of global energy transition.
