Chinese automotive manufacturer Jaecoo is back in the spotlight after a facelift model of the Jaecoo J5 was spotted undergoing a series of road tests. The presence of a unit with English emblems strongly indicates that this SUV is not only being prepared for the Chinese domestic market but is also projected for global market penetration.
The most striking update on this latest model lies in the integration of an advanced driving assistance system based on Falcon 700. Through comprehensive hardware support, including a LiDAR sensor, 11 cameras, as well as ultrasonic and millimeter-wave radar arrays, this vehicle is claimed to be capable of automatic navigation to self-parking features without driver intervention.
In terms of performance, the Jaecoo J5 facelift is predicted to pioneer the use of Chery's second-generation hybrid system, the Kun Peng 2.0. Unlike the previous generation, this system is rumored to boost power up to 349 hp. In addition, the absence of a charging port confirms that this SUV retains a practical Self-Charging Hybrid (HEV) mechanism.
