Germany has officially entered a new era in their national football landscape. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly reached an agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) to fill the vacant head coach position for the national team.
This strategic move was taken by the DFB following Julian Nagelsmann's resignation. Nagelsmann chose to step down after Die Mannschaft were eliminated early in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, following a dramatic penalty shootout defeat against Paraguay.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that although an agreement in principle has been reached, both parties are still finalizing the technical details of the contract. Additionally, the administrative transition regarding Klopp's affiliation with Red Bull is also a main focus in completing this deal.
Klopp's appointment is expected to be the solution to Germany's achievement crisis on the international stage. Since winning the World Cup in 2014, the four-time world champion team has notably failed to win a single knockout stage match at major tournaments.
Klopp himself had previously confirmed the existence of intensive negotiations with the federation. The presence of this strong-willed coach is predicted to bring tactical refreshment while reviving the squad's mentality ahead of upcoming competitions.
