A traffic accident on the Solok–Padang highway, specifically in the SPPG Sarimanggis area, Solok Regency, has exposed a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The incident, which occurred on Friday (10/7/2026) night, led to the seizure of 25 kilograms of dried marijuana hidden in the trunk of a minibus.
The incident began when a Toyota Terios driven by a man named Ari rear-ended a Honda Jazz driven by Dicky Marzoni (40). Instead of taking responsibility, the Terios driver attempted to flee after the heavy impact, which shattered the victim's rear windshield.
A Satpol PP (Municipal Police) officer, Yoga Bahri Pratama, who was at the scene, acted swiftly. He managed to intercept and direct the perpetrator's car to stop in the yard of SPPG Sarimanggis due to suspicions about the driver's behavior, which seemed to evade responsibility.
These suspicions were proven correct when officers from the Gunung Talang Police Station arrived at the scene to conduct a physical inspection of the vehicle. Officers found a white sack containing five large packages of marijuana wrapped in yellow duct tape in the trunk of the perpetrator's car, with each package weighing up to 5 kilograms.
The Chief of Gunung Talang Police, Police Inspector (IPTU) Armen Nandes, confirmed that they have secured a passenger with the initials Kanda Ramadhan (30), while the main driver, identified by the initials Ari, is still under intensive police pursuit. Currently, all evidence and the suspect have been handed over to the Solok Regency Police Narcotics Unit for further investigation.
