The Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of Palmerah District, under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of West Jakarta, is proactively strengthening education for prospective brides and grooms. This initiative focuses on a deep understanding of physical health as a primary foundation in building a peaceful and harmonious household.
During a guidance session held at the Palmerah KUA Marriage Hall on Tuesday (30/6/2026), a speaker from the Palmerah District Public Health Center (Puskesmas), Friyani, emphasized that a couple's health is a strategic investment. Health readiness not only impacts marital harmony but is also a key factor in giving birth to a superior and high-quality next generation.
Friyani highlighted the urgency of pre-marital health screenings as a preventive measure to detect diseases that often show no clinical symptoms, such as hypertension, anemia, and diabetes. According to her, early detection allows couples to take early preventive or treatment measures, thereby minimizing more serious health risks before pregnancy arrives.
In addition to routine health check-ups, this education also emphasizes the importance of immunizations for prospective mothers. Protection through immunization, especially against tetanus and diphtheria, is considered crucial to protect the mother while providing immunity to the unborn baby through antibodies formed during pregnancy.
Furthermore, Friyani stated that efforts to maintain health align with Islamic principles that emphasize preventive efforts. With a blend of spiritual, psychological, and physical readiness, the Ministry of Religious Affairs hopes prospective couples can build a resilient, healthy family structure that contributes positively to the broader community's welfare.
