Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism officially evaluated its performance for the first half of 2026 during a strategic conference held on July 9. The meeting not only reviewed the achievements of the past six months but also established a crucial roadmap to address challenges and opportunities for the remainder of the year.
As of mid-2026, the ministry recorded significant success in strengthening its institutional framework. A total of 26 strategic policy documents were submitted to the authorities, including key resolutions from the National Assembly and the Politburo. Furthermore, the tourism sector delivered an impressive performance, recording 12.3 million international arrivals and 81 million domestic tourists, which contributed significantly to national revenue.
The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, emphasized that 2026 is a crucial phase for national development. She stressed the need for a mindset shift to maximize the potential of resources and drive more progressive economic growth. Despite these positive achievements, the Minister candidly acknowledged obstacles in inter-agency coordination and the speed of implementation for several projects that still require improvement.
To address these challenges, the ministry adopted the motto "Unified Thinking - Decisive Action - Creating Value." This motto serves as the foundation for six priority agendas to be implemented by the end of the year: refining development institutions, fostering a healthy cultural environment, optimizing the tourism sector as a driver of economic growth, preserving cultural heritage, accelerating digital transformation, and enhancing the quality of civil service human resources.
All levels of the ministry have been instructed not just to work administratively, but to ensure that every policy has a tangible impact on the public and industry players. This step is expected to serve as a solid foundation for successfully achieving the national development targets for the 2026-2030 period.
