MAKASSAR – NIPAH PARK shopping center and creative space is preparing to host the annual NIPAH Sports Week (PON) 2026 from July 17 to 19. Unlike previous years, this edition's event carries a unique concept titled "Game On, Waste Gone", which blends the spirit of sports competition with environmental conservation campaigns.
Over the three-day event, this festival will feature a total of 25 sports disciplines, divided into 17 official competition categories and 8 exhibition sports. The contested sports categories are highly diverse, ranging from team sports, martial arts, racket sports, e-sports, recreational sports, to fitness classes for the general public.
Since its initiation in 2022 as a platform to appreciate local communities, the event has grown rapidly to become an inclusive public space in Makassar. Statistics show cumulative participation has reached 7,638 athletes and attracted over 205,000 visitors, with the number of sports disciplines consistently increasing every year.
Property General Manager of NIPAH PARK & Office, Aswan Amiruddin, explained that the event is designed as a dynamic public space. Through PON, they are committed to providing a platform for communities to grow together, establish positive social interactions, and produce proud new achievements.
The uniqueness of this year's theme is realized through a tactical collaboration with RASAPASAR to process waste into useful items. Various plastic waste, production leftovers, and electronic waste from previous events are transformed into championship medals, directional signage, souvenirs, and art installations that decorate the event area.
Sales & Marketing General Manager of Kalla Property, Rasmila Sari Suaib, emphasized the importance of sports as a medium to deliver environmental care messages in an applicable way. Creative Director of RASAPASAR, Reza Enem, also agreed, stating that this "Repurposed Used Items" concept is expected to open up new perspectives for the community in treating used materials.
