The Central National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) officially introduced a new approach to training the nation's athletes through the launch of a book titled "Sports Intelligence". The book review event held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), State University of Surabaya (UNESA) on Tuesday (7/7/2026) marks a strategic step for the organization in modernizing national sports governance.
General Chairman of Central KONI, Marciano Norman, emphasized that the book represents the culmination of ideas he has been developing since 2019. He highlighted the importance of synergy between intelligence approaches and sports science as the primary instrument for boosting athlete competitiveness on the international stage.
"Victory in the arena today no longer relies solely on physical strength. We must move toward intelligence in managing data, information, and precise strategy. This is the foundation behind the birth of the sports intelligence concept at Central KONI," Marciano said in a statement.
Furthermore, Marciano explained that the book integrates the use of modern technology such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence into the coaching curriculum. For him, this step is not merely about fulfilling academic literature needs, but serves as a tactical guide for sports federation administrators to make accurate, data-driven decisions.
In its implementation, Central KONI is committed to being the operational backbone ensuring that this concept can be adopted down to the regional level. This strategy is expected to accelerate Indonesia's athletic achievement in line with the Golden Indonesia vision and support President Prabowo Subianto's 4th Asta Cita priority on developing superior human resources.
