PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has successfully recorded a positive performance amidst challenging dynamics in the cement industry. Throughout the period of January to May 2026, the issuer under the stock code SMGR posted a total sales volume of 15.09 million tons, representing a 4.4% year-on-year growth compared to the 14.5 million tons achieved in the same period last year.
This performance growth was primarily supported by the domestic market performance, which strengthened by 9.6% yoy. SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, revealed that this success was inseparable from the effectiveness of the micro-market management strategy implemented by the company. The bagged cement segment was the main contributor, recording a significant growth of 11.9% yoy, reflecting high demand from both the retail sector and small-scale construction projects.
In addition to strengthening its domestic market base, SIG is also actively diversifying its market through export expansion. This strategic move was made to optimize factory capacity utilization while targeting value-added product niches. One of the key achievements is the realization of special type cement shipments to the United States.
Through its subsidiary, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, in partnership with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, SIG has distributed 97,500 metric tons of cement to the United States market. The company targets total exports to the United States to reach 450,000 metric tons throughout 2026, which will be distributed in phases through its operational facility in Tuban, East Java.
This expansive and adaptive step is part of the sustainable business transformation implemented by SIG. By maintaining business resilience through a balance of domestic and international markets, the company is committed to strengthening its long-term business fundamentals to remain competitive amidst fluctuations in the national and global construction industries.
