TANGERANG — Following its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, MG Motor Indonesia has officially presented the technological details behind their latest SUV, the MG ZS Hybrid+. Through a session titled "MG ZS Hybrid+ Technological Deep Dive", the automotive manufacturer unpacked the advantages of their hybrid engine, designed to meet consumer demand for vehicles that are both efficient and powerful.
Carrying the overarching theme "Outclass the Mainstream", the MG ZS Hybrid+ was developed based on three main pillars: Distinctive Pride for design aesthetics, Thoughtful Care focusing on comfort and safety, and Complete Reward focusing on the efficiency of the powertrain system. Head of Product MG Motor Indonesia, Eko Fachruroji, explained that this model comes as a solution for consumers looking for dynamic performance without sacrificing fuel efficiency and family comfort.
In terms of design, the compact SUV features dimensions of 4,430 mm in length, 1,818 mm in width, and 1,502 mm in height, giving it a robust posture. Its exterior appearance is highlighted by a new front grille, Hunter Eyes headlights, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Meanwhile on the inside, a modern feel is instantly felt thanks to a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen and a 7-inch digital instrument panel, paired with a fighter jet-style electronic gear selector.
The powertrain sector is the main highlight, thanks to the integration of a 1,500 cc hybrid petrol engine with a high-power electric motor and a 1.83 kWh battery. This power is delivered through an advanced 3-Speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This configuration allows the MG ZS Hybrid+ to record a highly efficient fuel consumption of up to 27.7 km/liter based on internal testing, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.7 seconds.
Leo Liu, Senior Product Director of SAIC Motor, explained that this intelligent transmission system is managed by a Hybrid Control Unit that automatically distributes power through eight driving scenarios. Offered in two main variants, Ignite and Magnify, this eco-friendly vehicle is marketed at a promotional price starting from IDR 299.9 million for the first 1,000 buyers during the launch period at GIIAS 2026.
