PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison/IOH) recorded a significant surge in financial performance throughout the first half of 2026. The impressive double-digit growth in revenue and net profit was driven by the acceleration of the company's business transition towards utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).
As of June 30, 2026, the telecommunications issuer generated revenue of Rp30.7 trillion, growing 13.1 percent year-on-year (YoY). The company's EBITDA also increased by 14 percent to Rp14.6 trillion, with the EBITDA margin remaining solid at 47.6 percent. Meanwhile, normalized net profit attributable to owners of the parent company skyrocketed by 49.2 percent to reach Rp3.2 trillion.
This leap in performance is directly proportional to the increased use of digital services by the public. Indosat's data traffic surged by 19.9 percent YoY, which also pushed up the average revenue per user (ARPU) by 17.3 percent to Rp46,000. In total, Indosat's mobile subscriber base has now reached 93.4 million users across the country.
President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha, explained that this achievement is inseparable from the implementation of the "AI North Star" strategy. This blueprint guides the company's evolution from a traditional connectivity service provider into a comprehensive AI-based technology entity. The strategy has proven successful in creating operational efficiency while enhancing the company's long-term value.
One of the key strategic steps taken by Indosat in the first half of this year was the collaboration with Arsari Group to form PT Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT). Through a divestment and management scheme of more than 86,000 kilometers of the national fiber optic cable network, IOH secured fresh funds of Rp11.7 trillion. This step confirms the company's commitment to implementing an "asset-light" business model for higher investment flexibility.
In the AI-based cloud computing sector, Indosat's AI Cloud business unit successfully contributed USD 33 million in revenue in just six months. This figure exceeds the total revenue for the whole of 2025, which was recorded at USD 28 million. In addition, IOH's connectivity quality was further strengthened by the addition of 80 MHz of frequency spectrum licenses in the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands to support the expansion of the 5G network and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services.
Not just about profit, Indosat is also focusing on environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emission intensity by 50.89 percent through AI-based smart network optimization. This environmental effort has placed IOH in three leading KEHATI ESG indices. In terms of human resource development, the company has partnered with the Ministry of Manpower and the Wadhwani Foundation to realize the target of creating one million digital talents and 100,000 AI-based entrepreneurs by 2029.
