Binh Minh Ward, which covers part of the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area, is facing significant challenges regarding environmental management. With a scattered population and dense business activities, the volume of household and industrial waste in the area continues to rise, requiring a more comprehensive and responsive governance strategy.
In an effort to strengthen leadership capacity at the grassroots level, a delegation from the Institute of Leadership and Public Policy at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Chien, conducted a working visit and mentoring session in Binh Minh Ward. This meeting aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental policies while seeking practical solutions to mobilize community participation.
In its implementation, local authorities have taken proactive steps through mass sanitation campaigns involving hundreds of residents, as well as strict enforcement of regulations. To date, as many as 21 business units have been closely monitored for waste disposal compliance, with authorities ensuring that operating facilities meet applicable environmental regulatory standards.
Beyond law enforcement aspects, this seminar served as a platform for exchanging best practices between the government and citizens. The discussion not only highlighted challenges on the ground but also provided a theoretical foundation for local leaders to integrate climate change issues into more sustainable regional development programs.
The results of this series of activities will later be used as evaluation material to update professional development modules for political system managers. It is hoped that synergy between the government, community, and academic institutions will create an effective environmental governance model amid global climate change challenges.
