A joint task force consisting of the Pekanbaru City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), military and police elements (TNI-Polri), and members of Commission I of the Pekanbaru City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) carried out an unannounced inspection (sidak) at several nightlife locations in the early hours of Thursday (9/7/2026). This step was taken as a supervisory measure to ensure all business managers comply with applicable licensing regulations.
During the operation, the team targeted several popular spots such as Gen Z Club, Empire 80 Lounge and KTV, and HW Live House. Head of Pekanbaru Satpol PP, Desheriyanto, explained that the main focus of the inspection covered administrative aspects to monitoring the security situation on-site. Although several places were observed to be quiet, HW Live House appeared quite crowded with visitors due to an event being held.
Desheriyanto emphasized that the government does not prohibit the operation of entertainment venues, provided business operators maintain a conducive environment and do not violate regional regulations. He issued a stern warning for managers to step up internal surveillance to anticipate potential criminal acts, including drug trafficking and activities deemed to violate social norms.
Echoing the executive branch, Chairman of Commission I of the Pekanbaru City DPRD, Robin Eduar, stated that this inspection was a manifestation of legislative oversight to protect the public. He expressed commitment to zero tolerance for entertainment managers who allow drug trafficking on their premises.
Also present in the inspection group were other members of Commission I of the Pekanbaru DPRD, namely Aidhil Nur Putra, Wan Agusti, and Syafri Syarif. This synergy between the legislature and law enforcement agencies is expected to serve as a strong message to nightlife business owners in Pekanbaru to consistently maintain order and comply with local government regulations.
