The Indonesian government has officially set an ambitious target in the 2027 Government Work Plan (RKP), aiming to create between 2.57 million and 3.49 million new jobs. This strategic step is designed as a crucial effort to accelerate economic growth that is not only strong but also equitable and inclusive for all levels of society.
In a series of discussions on the 2027 State Budget Draft (RAPBN), the government and stakeholders agreed on a national economic growth target set in the range of 5.8 to 6.5 percent. This economic expansion is projected to be the main catalyst for opening up job opportunities in various strategic sectors that have historically been the backbone of the domestic economy.
Beyond just pursuing quantity, the government is also focusing on improving the quality of the workforce by targeting a formal employment proportion of 40.81 percent. This policy is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian human resources in facing global economic challenges that continue to evolve and demand more specific skills.
As an indicator of the success of these employment policies, the government aims to reduce the open unemployment rate (TPT) to between 4.30 and 4.87 percent by 2027. With the creation of a broader and higher-quality work ecosystem, the government is optimistic that the positive impacts of economic growth can be tangibly felt by the wider community.
