The Ponorogo Regency Government is currently intensifying efforts to expand coverage for the National Health Insurance (JKN). As of early July 2026, public participation in the health social security program has only reached 84.16 percent. To comply with Presidential Regulation Number 12 of 2025, which targets 98.5 percent coverage, the local government must reach at least 135,652 additional individuals.
Acting Regent of Ponorogo, Lisdyarita, emphasized that this acceleration requires strong cross-sectoral synergy. During a coordination meeting held in the Telaga Ngebel area, she stressed the importance of collaboration between the local government, BPJS Kesehatan, the private sector, and village governments. This synergy is expected to eliminate financial barriers for the public in accessing quality healthcare services.
As a strategic move, the Ponorogo Regency Government launched the 'Desa Pesiar' program (Map, Comb, Advocate, and Register) in 54 villages across four sub-districts: Babadan, Jenangan, Sukorejo, and Pulung. This initiative is designed to map and validate data on residents who have not yet registered as JKN participants so they can promptly gain access to health protection.
Head of BPJS Kesehatan Madiun Branch, Wahyu Dyah Puspitasari, welcomed the commitment of the Ponorogo Regency Government. According to her, health inclusion for all residents is key to creating fair and equitable access to medical services. To date, these efforts are also supported by the involvement of 12 business entities and hospitals acting as donors for wage-earning and non-wage-earning workers, along with the deployment of 862 new trained field cadres.
