The Pekanbaru City Government (Pemko) organized a mass circumcision social service event attended by 1,100 elementary school-aged children. The event, centered at the Public Service Mall (MPP) area on Sunday (21/6/2026), was held as a form of direct health service to the community to commemorate the 242nd Anniversary of Pekanbaru City and the 54th PKK Movement Unity Day (HKG).
Mayor of Pekanbaru, Agung Nugroho, emphasized that this initiative reflects the government's commitment to expanding healthcare access for residents. All mass circumcision participants were students who had undergone data collection and verification by the Education Office from 151 elementary schools in the local area.
To ensure the quality and safety of the medical procedures, Pemko Pekanbaru formed strategic partnerships with 24 public and private hospitals. Furthermore, the involvement of professional medical staff from the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) and the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) was secured to oversee the circumcision process from start to finish.
In addition to circumcision services, the organizers also provided health screening facilities for guardians and the general public in attendance. These health services included medical consultations, general health check-ups, and Acetic Acid Visual Inspection (VIA) services for women as an early detection measure for cervical cancer risk.
