The Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) is preparing a long-term strategic project in the form of providing evenly distributed sports facilities across all sub-districts (kelurahan) and districts (kecamatan). This program, spearheaded by the Bengkulu City Youth and Sports Office (Dispora), is projected to be proposed in the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) for the 2027 fiscal year.

The Head of the Bengkulu City Dispora, Eka Saputra, revealed that his team is currently conducting the initial phase, consisting of data collection and field needs mapping surveys. This effort aims to ensure that the facilities built later will truly match the characteristics, needs, and availability of land in each area.

The results of this comprehensive survey will serve as the primary foundation for drafting technical plans and calculating budget estimates. Once all the data is finalized, Dispora will officially submit it for discussion in the 2027 APBD so that physical realization can begin promptly.

As an initial priority, the Bengkulu City Government is focusing on building facilities for three popular sports that have many enthusiasts across all ages: badminton, volleyball, and football. The selection of these three sports is considered effective for stimulating residents' interest in daily physical activity without having to travel long distances from their neighborhoods.

In addition to popularizing sports to improve citizens' health standards, this project is also designed as a platform to scout promising young athletes from an early age. The availability of representative facilities is expected to facilitate the nurturing of local talent to bring honor to Bengkulu on national and international stages.
