Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province, H. Muhammad Syarifuddin, conducted a direct inspection of the South Kalimantan National Paralympic Committee Indonesia (NPCI) training center at the Mini Sport Center, Banjarbaru, on Thursday (9/7/2026). This visit serves as a strong signal of the provincial government's appreciation while evaluating the development needs of para-athletes in the region.
During the visit, Syarifuddin expressed high appreciation for South Kalimantan NPCI's independent initiative in successfully presenting an integrated training facility, ranging from athlete dormitories to training support facilities for 16 sports branches. The facility was self-funded by the organization, reflecting extraordinary dedication to achieving achievements that bring honor to the region on the international stage.
Chairman of South Kalimantan NPCI, Sumansyah, revealed that the construction of the one-hectare complex was funded by internal contributions from athletes and coaches. He hopes the local government can extend the duration of the development program, which is scheduled to end in August 2026, to maintain the athletes' performance consistency until the end of the year.
Responding to these aspirations, the Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan stated that he would coordinate intensively with the Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) to review follow-up support according to the region's budgetary capacity. This commitment aligns with the government's efforts to optimize the potential of athletes prepared to strengthen the Indonesian contingent in various prestigious events.
Head of South Kalimantan Dispora, Pebriadin Hapiz, added that his party is currently establishing a budget priority scale to ensure continuous development. Main focus will be placed on sports branches and athletes with high potential to win medals, ensuring that every government support delivers a tangible impact on Paralympic sports achievements in South Kalimantan.
