The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo, officially opened the 2026 Ministry of Defence Sports Week (POR Kemhan) at the Bhineka Tunggal Ika Field, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The solemn opening ceremony was attended by representatives from all working units within the ministry.
In the Minister of Defence's message read by the Secretary General, it was emphasized that this event is not merely a physical competition. POR Kemhan is projected as a strategic momentum to build more fluid communication, strengthen ties of friendship, and foster solidarity among employees. In addition, this activity is expected to serve as a stimulus for all personnel to implement a healthy lifestyle and enhance their professional work ethic.
As a form of commitment to honesty in competition, the ceremony included the swearing-in of athletes and referees. The ceremonial atmosphere was further solidified with the procession of handing over the rotating trophy from the previous year's overall champion, the Secretariat General Contingent, to the organizing committee as a sign of the start of the tournament.
The National Defence Council (DPN) also showed enthusiasm by sending a contingent to compete in various sports. DPN's participation in this event is a concrete step to support togetherness within the Ministry of Defence. On the first day, athletes from DPN competed immediately in volleyball and chess.
The sports being contested in this year's event include pistol shooting, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, and chess. The entire series of matches is expected to serve as a positive platform for participants to demonstrate sportsmanship while improving physical fitness.
