This is being done to solidify Indonesia's position amid increasingly dynamic and challenging global technology competition.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that a nation's competitive edge in the digital economy era no longer relies solely on physical infrastructure development. Mastering innovation and digital talent competencies serve as the main decisive factors for Indonesia to transform from a mere consumer into an active player in the global technology value chain.
Furthermore, Nezar emphasized that the acceleration of computing infrastructure and the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) must be balanced with the readiness of local talent. Therefore, the government is now positioning strategic collaborations with various universities as primary innovation hubs to align educational curricula with current real industry needs.
As a concrete step, Kemkomdigi has initiated the 'AI Talent Factory' program at several universities across various regions. This initiative is designed to equalize access to digital upskilling while equipping the younger generation with an understanding of technological geopolitical dynamics and future economic structures.
Through this comprehensive approach, the government is optimistic about building a resilient technology ecosystem. This human resource capacity development is projected not only to boost national productivity but also to ensure Indonesia maintains sovereignty in technology development on the international stage.
