Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has officially begun exploring strategic cooperation opportunities in satellite and space technology with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). This step was realized through a discussion titled 'Strengthening Satellite and Space Technology Innovation Collaboration' held at the Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Thursday (9/7).
This high-level meeting brought together various stakeholders, including UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., and the Head of BRIN's Satellite Technology Research Center, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Wahyudi Hasbi. Representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi and leadership from PT Len Industri (Persero) were also present, providing perspectives on the importance of cross-sector synergy in the national space ecosystem.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, emphasized that a collaborative partnership model is key to research efficiency today. According to him, integrating university capabilities with BRIN facilities and industry support will create a much more impactful synergy than working individually.
Responding to this potential, Prof. Wahyudi Hasbi from BRIN stated that satellite development is a multidisciplinary field requiring cross-field involvement, ranging from mechanical engineering and electronics to law. He stressed that BRIN is committed to opening access to its research laboratory facilities for the UNDIP academic community so that innovation development can progress faster and more efficiently without the burden of initial investments in new equipment.
The interactive discussion resulted in various follow-up action points, including joint research plans, internship programs, and human resource capacity building. With the involvement of PT Len Industri as a strategic partner, this collaboration is expected to strengthen national technological independence while providing real solutions to national challenges through the utilization of satellite data and technology.
