Indonesian Minister of Communications and Digital, Meutya Hafid, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Communications of the Republic of Iraq, Mustafa Al Maryani, on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday (12/7/2026). This meeting marks a concrete step for both countries in strengthening their strategic partnership in the information technology sector.
The main focus of the discussion included the exchange of experiences regarding the development of digital infrastructure, expansion of connectivity, and governance of cutting-edge technology. In addition, both parties highlighted the importance of capacity building for digital talent to spur technology-based economic growth in their respective countries.
During the meeting, Indonesia outlined its national digital transformation policy vision, known as the 3T principle. This vision encompasses the aspects of 'Terhubung' (Connected) for infrastructure equity, 'Tumbuh' (Growth) for strengthening digital economy innovation, and 'Terjaga' (Safeguarded), which emphasizes creating a secure digital ecosystem, including the implementation of child protection online.
This collaboration is expected to serve as a foundation for Indonesia and Iraq to build an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem. This international synergy is seen as crucial in addressing the dynamic challenges of global digital transformation and enhancing human resource capabilities in both countries.
